I present to you, the owner of DBPUBLICATIONS, Demetria Buie! From Louisiana, she is the author of “Refuse To Lose.” An autobiography. Once you’ve got a taste of her story here, you’ll be dying to read her book to find out more. I know I am!

Demetria wrote this book to use her life story to inspire others and give other women the space to and courage to tell their own unperfect stories “without guilt, shame, or revenge.” She truly is an inspiration. Demetria’s work shows us that it’s possible to rise above a situation. A situation is temporary, if you choose for it to be. We choose how our story will go, and how it will be told.

Demetria’s Story

Demetria’s story isn’t all, as the overused phrase goes, ‘sunshine and rainbows.’ It contains little sunshine at first, BUT a big old rainbow at the end. The stuff in between is tough. Her childhood was less than great, less than good even. I’ll just say she learned at a very young age that she had no one she could trust on her side. Her turbulent childhood experience led to a turbulent young adulthood as well.

Demetria was headed towards becoming a statistic. She dropped out of junior high school in the 8th grade. She did eventually end up going to college, only to be forced to drop out after she endured a horrific car accident. Things continued to go downhill from there. Countless bad relationships (romantic and otherwise). No one to trust. Treated poorly by everyone.

Then in 2008, Demetria found herself homeless. As Demetria says, “homeless, homeless.” No shelter, no food, no running water, no shower… you get the idea. She knew she had to make a choice for change…

Demetria had her son a few years later. Like some parents do, he chose not to be a parent. Demetria has raised her son herself... all while being completely inspiring and fabulous! Insert applause here!!!!!!

After all of this, or maybe because of all of this, Demetria decided to write her book which is appropriately named, “Refuse To Lose.” She would not be defeated. She would tell her story for all women to learn from. She would support other women to tell their story as well.

Please note: (I want to be very sure I communicate this!) Demetria wanted to mention the ugly she overcame. Her purpose and passion are to encourage and empower women to tell their stories… “Without guilt, shame, or revenge.” As such, she would like you all to know her story as well.

In 2014, Demetria published her first book. You guessed it! “Refuse to Lose.” (I’ve already ordered my copy!) Read her book to discover more about her past, and how she chose to be her best self through it all.

For a Cause

Demetria supports LupusLA, and even started a magazine just for Lupus patients!!! Incredible! She got involved with cause while supporting a close friend. Her experience inspired her to get involved and support LupusLA. She truly is an amazing being!
