I could simply say that Tess Finley, the founder of “In Color Events & Designs,” is an event planner but saying so would not convey the brilliance and flair that go into her events! I had the opportunity to speak with Tess at length about what she does, and it’s nothing short of innovative, fresh, vibrant, stylish, and UNIQUE!

We’re talking LUXURY PICNICS and PROPOSAL PLANNING.

“All I want to do is make things pretty!” This is how Tess describes what inspires her, and I think there is no better way to describe the work she is doing! “Making things pretty” is just what she is doing! These words show in her work and personality. It was an absolute pleasure meeting with Tess!

Tess’s Story

You could not tell by visiting Tess’s website, or by even talking with her, that she fell into event planning by complete accident. Her energy, passion, and excitement just radiated as she talked about her new business. Tess is so energetic, in fact, that she rolled yarn during our entire interview 😊.

Tess is from Michigan, and moved to Los Angeles, California for her modeling career. The pandemic worked its way into her story just like many of ours! (In fact, it’s a big part of it!) Tess moved back to Michigan in November 2019 after Covid slowed everything down.

Tess’s cousin was due to get married around this time, when the venue the couple had reserved was forced to change the rules due to the “Covid Gods,” as Tess put it. Tess jumped in to help give her cousin the wedding day she deserved and found herself enjoying it! She planned and put together an entire backyard wedding, down the lighting! Tess received many compliments on her work and was told by weddings goers that she should plan events professionally.

Tess thought on those words of encouragement, and in September 2021, with the ongoing support of her mom, sister, Jamie, (and so many others) she acted on the idea and started her business by offering luxury picnics! If you don’t know what a luxury picnic is, (and even if you DO), you must look at the website. I know I’ll be booking one!

Tess loves to be creative, and it shows in every detail of her work! Her events show her passion, incredible creativity, and vision.
