About two months ago I was asked to partake in an event that a friend was putting together. At that event I got the pleasure of meeting Jamie of Jamie Fodale Photography! Jamie was the photographer for the event, and a fantastic one at that!
I was extremely nervous and anxious as I hadn’t had my photos professionally done in many years, AND working from home due to Covid had not been my friend. I was self-conscious, down on my body image, and just not feeling confident.
The moment I walked through the studio doors my feelings completely changed. Jamie is so bubbly, personable, high-spirited, and frankly, was a cheerleader for me. She made me feel comfortable, I had a blast, and my photos turned out AMAZING.
What more could you ask for from a photo session, right??!!
I HAD to know more about Jamie. So.
Last week, I got the opportunity to speak with her in depth about her business story! This fabulous business babe was on her way to North Carolina to spend some time by the beach… Despite my absolute jealousy, I hope she had a great time and I appreciate her making time to share her story, or we’d all be missing out!
Jamie’s Story
Jamie started her photography business 20 years ago (in Roseville, Michigan). Her experience and expertise show (remember, I know from personal experience)! It’s hard to believe that Jamie never thought she’d make a business out of taking pictures. She always liked it, but just never thought of doing it to earn a living. She even got her 1st camera in 4th grade!
It wasn’t until the recession of 2004 when she was laid off that she decided to make her passion an avenue for making money. When Jamie and her family made the decision to move further north, she tried to keep up her location in Roseville because she loved it so much, but it just became too much with the commute and the demands of raising a family. She let her space go there, but she kept the business up by doing on-location sessions. It took her about 5 years after letting the Roseville space go to find her new space in Armada, Michigan. She has grown to love the new space just as much as her old location in Roseville. 😊

“My business grew as my children grew.” Jamie told about how when her children were little, she specialized in babies, toddler, and kids’ photography. As the children got older, she began to get more into taking sports photos and such. Jamie’s oldest is in college and her youngest is in 1st grade! She sure is getting (and taking advantage of the opportunity) to keep her skills sharpened with her children being of all different ages! In fact, Jamie’s favorite sessions are with high school seniors and families. I must note her ABSOLUTE favorite is taking football shots! You can find her on the sidelines of all her son’s football games, taking shots. I could tell by her excitement from speaking with her over the phone, that these sporting events (and photographing them) are her passion.
She specializes in children, family, AND high school Senior portraits!
You may have noticed I have not referred to any website, and that is not without reasoning. Jamie is working on getting it up and running this year.
